Social Media has brought paradigm shift in providing information on public services throughout the world. Many organizations and institutions have been developing advanced strategies and approaches of using Social Media in their offices, systems and processes or redesigning public service delivery. Social media, even a few years ago, was considered mainly an additional tool to improve communication among individuals or organizations. However, Social Media has now appeared as an appropriate and
effective tool for all, from government to mass media institutions or from non-government organizations to individual researcher. The Department of Social Services (DSS) of Bangladesh has adapted an innovative method of providing its services to the
citizens, use of Social Media to provide social safety net allowances to vulnerable, marginalized, disadvantaged and hard to reach area people. Since Facebook is the most popular form of Social Media in Bangladesh, the DSS, Bangladesh has been using number of Facebook pages to get connected with the community and to solve citizen centric issues online. This innovative approach has made this department unique for engaging and communicating with marginalized citizens and solving their yearlong problems even within 24 hours. In this context, a study was conducted on the effectiveness of Social Media in ensuring leaving no one behind. Also this paper identifies some way forward to provide better public service delivery using Social Media to underprivileged citizen who were left behind.
