On the 27th of November 2016, a daylong workshop titled “Digital Payments for Digital Bangladesh: Building an Ecosystem for All”, was held in the Karabi Hall, Prime Minister’s Office jointly organized by Bangladesh’s Access to Information Program at the Prime Minister’s Office and the United Nations’ Better Than Cash Alliance. Digital payments can help Bangladesh drive significant financial inclusion, economic growth and cost savings through specific reforms set out in a new report, released at the workshop by the United Nations-based Better Than Cash Alliance.

Mr. Abul Maal Abdul Muhith MP, Finance Minister, People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury, Additional Secretary (Budget-1), Finance Division, Kabir Bin Anwar, Director General, Prime Minister’s Office & Project Director, Access to Information (a2i) Programme, Sudipto Mukerjee, Country Director, UNDP Bangladesh, Dr Ruth Goodwin Groen, Managing Director, UN’s Better Than Cash Alliance, Anir Chowdhury, Policy Advisor, a2i, and high officials of UN’s Better Than Cash Alliance and a2i Programme and also a good number of media journalists were present in the workshop.
