On 24 August, 2017 Access to Information (a2i) Programme of Prime Minister’s Office was organized view exchange meeting with more than hundred Industry owner’s for launching entrepreneurship program in formal industry. Kabir Bin Anwar, Director General (Admin) of the Prime Minister’s Office and Project Director of a2i Programme was chaired the program.
Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Principal Secretary, Prime Minister’s Office was present as the Chief Guest. ABM Khorshed Alam, CEO (Additional Secretary), National Skills Development Council; Nasim Manzur, Managing Director of Apex footwear limited and Ex- President of Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka (MCCI); Salahuddin Kasem Khan,Managing Director of A.K. Khan and Company Limited and Ex- President of Bangladesh Employers Federation and Md. Salim Reza, Director General of Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET) were delivered the speech as special guests.
In 2016, by the initiative of a2i Programme, the pilot phase of apprenticeship program was introduced in informal sector at 30 upazila of Bangladesh. Based upon the success of the program, the initiative of ‘Apprenticeship Program launching at 50 upazilas informal sector’ has taken by this year. Through this initiative, educated unemployed young men and women can join the employment sector through hands-on training from different trade under formal industries.
