National Consultation Workshop of Policy for Open Educational Resources (OER) in Bangladesh

Short Description:

On the 19th of November 2016, a National Consultation Workshop of Policy for Open Educational Resources (OER) in Bangladesh was held in the Karabi Hall, Prime Minister’s Office jointly organized by Access to Information (a2i) Programme, Bangladesh Open University (BOU) and Commonwealth of Learning (COL), Canada. The objectives of this workshop were to engage with relevant stakeholders to discuss the need of OER; discuss the draft OER policy; and discuss a strategy for adoption and implementation of OER policy for Bangladesh.

The potential participants of the workshop include policymakers from Ministry of Education, Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, University Grants Commission, Directorate of Primary Education, Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, NCTB and various stakeholders from UNESCO, World Bank, University of Dhaka, University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh Open University, BRAC, Save the Children. Participants of the workshop presented their views towards OER, importance of National OER policy, possible challenges and way to move forward minimizing those challenges in the group presentation session.
