a2i Programme of the Prime Minister’s Office and IQRA Bangladesh signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on January 23, 2017 to work in partnership towards mainstreaming youths in the ‘Qawmi Madrasa’ system through skills development and job placement.
Mr. Kabir Bin Anwar, Director General (Administration) and Project Director of a2i Programme; Mawlana Farid Uddin Masud,(Chairman of Iqra Bangladesh) signed the MoU on behalf of the respective organizations. Senior officials from a2i Programme and Iqra Bangladesh were also present at this ceremony. The MoU was signed in the Conference Room, of the Prime Minister’s Office.
The collaboration aims to explore the design of an intervention to potentially revolutionize the mindset of youths in the ‘Qawmi Madrasa’ system in Bangladesh. Alongside the traditional curriculum of the ‘Qawmi Madrasa’, the intervention will create the scope for the students to achieve at least one vocational skill that is in demand in local and foreign markets.
In order to implement Vision 2021, a2i aims to empower thousands and millions of youths to turn around their lives. Coupled with their Arabic communication skills, this intervention could give these youths a competitive edge in various skilled and semi-skilled professions in the Middle East.
