Grand Inauguration of Online Police Clearance Certificate Service

On Sunday 15 January 2017 at Rajarbagh Police Line Auditorium at the Bangladesh Police Headquarters, a grand inauguration ceremony of a2i’s Service Innovation Fund (SIF) facilitated “Online Police Clearance Certificate Service” was held jointly by the a2i Programme of the Prime Minister’s Office and Bangladesh Police. The occasion was graced by the presence of the Honorable Minister for Home Affairs Mr. Asaduzzaman Khan M.P. as the chief guest. Mr. Md. Kabir Bin Anwar, Director General, (Admin), Prime Minister’s Office, and Project Director of the a2i Programme attended the event as the special guest. Mr. Anir Chowdhury, Policy Advisor of the a2i Programme was also present as a special guest. The ceremony was chaired by Bangladesh Police Inspector General (IG P), Mr. AKM Shahidul Haque.

The honorable chief guest, Minister for Home Affairs Mr. Asaduzzaman Khan M.P. said a large portion of the population of Bangladesh can go abroad and earn foreign currencies that will benefit the nation. He hoped that the “Online Police Clearance Certificate Service” will prove to be an inexpensive, convenient and safe system that will make the process of going abroad easier for citizens. The honorable minister requested Bangladesh Police to successfully implement the system throughout Bangladesh and ensure accountability to users.

This pilot project, supported by a2i’s Service Innovation Fund (SIF) has started its journey in metropolitan areas of the districts of Comilla, Chandpur and Sylhet. The system features an organized timeline of the verification and certificate delivery using which citizens can track the process. Moreover, an E-Payment System will also be made available soon for the fee submission along with an SMS notification service to keep applicants updated.
